To Be Read Piles

Makeshift July Book TBR | 2018 Series

Hey Guys! It is Max here and we will be doing the July Book TBR article today! As you can tell from the heading, this is a makeshift TBR as all of the books that are persisting to be listed on this fascinating article would presumably and plausibly not going to be read this month. So, before we get into the TBR, I would fancy sharing with all of you what I had read this foregoing 2 month and they will be stated below:

  1. The Slave Prince By Jeyna Grace
  2. New Moon By Stephenie Meyer
  3. Eclipse By Stephenie Meyer (Review to come)
  4. Beautiful Creatures By Kami Gracia and Margaret Stole (Review to come)
  5. Angelfall Trilogy (Review to come)

With that aside, we will now proceed with the TBR pile!

5. Six Of Crows Duology By Leigh Bardugo

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price–and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone…

A convict with a thirst for revenge.

A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.

A runaway with a privileged past.

A spy known as the Wraith.

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.

I had actually completed this duology this month and I thought it was a phenomenal read. If you are like me who thought the first book was okay and a little ‘meh’ read, I highly recommend you to push yourself to read the next book in the series as there are more character development and devastating backstories to be told. Also, this duology will be analyzed on my blog soon!

Six Of Crows: ⭐⭐⭐.5

Crooked Kingdom: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

4. War Storm By Victoria Aveyard

Victory comes at a price.

Mare Barrow learned this all too well when Cal’s betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her heart—and secure freedom for Reds and newbloods like her—Mare resolves to overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all… starting with the crown on Maven’s head.

But no battle is won alone, and before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her. Cal’s powerful Silver allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But Maven is driven by an obsession so deep, he will stop at nothing to have Mare as his own again, even if it means demolishing everything—and everyone—in his path.

War is coming, and all Mare has fought for hangs in the balance. Will victory be enough to topple the Silver kingdoms? Or will the little lightning girl be forever silenced?

I am currently reading this novel and I am on page 56/662. To be honest, I have the lowest expectation going into this novel because I had read some reviews discharging on how they despise the ending of the novel so… We will see what happens when I finish it.

3. Tiger Trouble by Grant Goodman

Thirteen year-old Agent Darcy is one of the top students at the Bureau of Sneakery, where there are three rules every agent must follow: never make friends with an outsider, never speak of the Bureau, and never reveal your real name. Lately, Darcy has hit a rough patch: her rival, Agent Serena, keeps outdoing her. If things keep going this way, Darcy is convinced that no one will ever assign her a real mission.

Ninja Steve’s city, Ninjastoria, is the home of sword fights, throwing stars, and Tae Kwon Donuts. Unlike his genius older sister, twelve year-old Steve isn’t the best ninja student. He’d rather be swinging a sword instead of taking notes in class. Steve, however, is about to learn that being a true ninja means far more than being able to use a sword.

When Darcy is sent to Ninjastoria as an exchange student, it will turn both of their lives upside-down and raise all kinds of questions:

What do the mecha-moles want? Who is the man in the gray mask? What do ninjas eat for lunch? And why is there a menacing tiger on the cover of this book?

This is a book that I must read by the end of this month because it gauges like something I would enjoy and other middle graders will too! I cannot wait to read this book and share my thoughts with all of you!

Also, this is a pretty short novel so I am sure I will be able to finish it by the end of this month.

2. Matched By Ally Condie

In the Society, officials decide. Who you love. Where you work. When you die.

Cassia has always trusted their choices. It’s hardly any price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one…until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path no one else has ever dared follow—between perfection and passion.

This is a novel that I am excited to read because of the controversy encompassing this book. Some people hardcore adore this book whereas the others disliked it very much. Honestly, I am just excited to see which side I am on- love or hate or will I be in the middle of it all?

Also, the cover is absolutely sumptuous like it is some blessings from the Gods.

1. Lady Of The Shades By Darren Shan

Ed, an American author on the hunt for a story for his next book, arrives in London looking for inspiration. A stranger in a strange city, he’s haunted by a deadly secret that refuses to stay buried, and no matter how hard he tries he cannot escape the manifest sins of his past.

What Ed wants is answers, what he finds is something he definitely didn’t bargain for: the beautiful and untouchable Andeanna Menderes. Andeanna is a woman who is dangerously bound to one of London’s most notorious crime lords, and if they are caught together it could mean death for them both.

Ensnared in an illicit affair that can only be conducted in the shadows, Ed’s world is turned upside down as a series of shattering revelations blurs the line between what’s real and what’s not…

I actually started this novel last week but did not manage to finish it because there are just too many distractions- for example, a new release that I am dying to read or the blaring of social media notifications. So, I have decided to place this novel here so that I can force myself to get through the book.

Also, I am not saying ‘force’ in a mean way like I am not enjoying the novel, I am actually loving it very much. It’s just the distractions that hurled me off the hook.

This is the end of my July TBR list! I hope you all enjoyed it and let me know your July TBR down in the comment box below! Follow me with your email/WordPress account to get notifications when I post a new article! Bye!
