Unpopular Opinion || Book Tag

Hey Guys! It is Max here and I am here today to formulate a book tag called ‘The Unpopular Opinion’ Book Tag! As you are browsing and scanning through words that are bestowed in this article, please do keep in cognizance that this book tag that I am addressing will get a little nasty- well, not a little but very nasty and I am not here to alter anyone’s opinions on the books that I will be discoursing on and I hope you will respect my opinions as I value yours.

Furthermore, I would like to name the originator who had invented this tag and the creator for this tag is The Book Archer who is a Booktuber on YouTube. So, with all of the things that I had mentioned above, we should commence with the tag and the controversy that I am certain will take place in the comment box below!

What is a popular book or series that you didn’t like?

Image result for angelfall

Angelfall by Susan Ee shall take the spot for this question for the time being. Wow, I can already hear people screaming in my direction for placing this novel here. Well, I definitely have to explain myself or else things will get worse and I do not wish for any of that.

The acumen on why I assigned this novel for this catechism is because of the content in it. Mind you, I rated it 4 stars on Goodreads but I am contemplating with myself on modifying it because I did not actually relish on it to the level of that grading that I had furnished. So, back to the question on why I did not cherish it as much as everyone else seems to admire.

The content in it did not grab me as much as it should have because I tend to enjoy angel/demons types of novel and in other cases, we called it the paranormal genre of books. I think I should address it properly: I did not connect with the characters in this novel and their struggles seemed like they were fumbling and squabbling over a pastime to me. In addition, the tensions and actions did not make me feel scared or have emotions flying everywhere. All I felt was boredom when I was reading this novel.

I will be doing a full review on this trilogy when I have the time but as for now, this will be my little rant section for this novel that did not do justice for me.

What is a popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love?

As for this inquisition and the deeds that it had required, I will go with The Ghost Of Heaven By Marcus Sedgwick. Now, don’t get me wrong, not everyone eschews this novel. I just felt that with this novel and the content or plot in it is either everything you have ever wanted or it is a thing that you condemn. To condense what I had just said: It is either you love this novel or you dislike it, there isn’t an in-between or grey spot for it.

For me, I thought this book was very well-plotted and it made my sentiments circumnavigate everywhere. In addition, the characters that were manifested in this novel were very relatable and the actions that had led to what they had the desire to do were smart and unlike many novels, the characters here do not make feeble-minded resolutions and that was the key point to my utmost appreciation for this novel.

What is a love triangle in a book or series where the main character ended up with the person you did not want them to end up with?

Image result for i am number four

For this question, I am proceeding to install a novel called I am number four here. If you have not read this series yet, I would recommend you to skip to another question because I am going to spoil some important plot points here. So, skip this and come back when you have finished? Also, if you have no desire to read this book series or you had read and perfected all 7 books in this series… Feel free to read what I am going to state.

I did not want Sam to end up with anyone. Honestly speaking, I wanted John to have a developed penchant for Six instead of Sarah. I was a little sad when Sarah departed and John lost her and all but still, I was a little jovial. Goodness, I am atrocious. Well, back to the topic. So, at that period in their lives, Six is already with Sam and they were couples so there would not be any probabilities for John and Six to be together and I had already given up at that point. But the ending, 2 ladies kissed John. The first one being Six and the second one being Seven. I was so confused. Six just cheated on Sam with a kiss on John’s lips and Seven who in no way would have advanced on an affection for John that quickly since Eight’s death.

In the end, I ship no one with John and to this day, I am still disoriented.

What is a popular book genre that you hardly reach for?

For this proposal, I am going to go with the answer of Young Adult Historical Fiction. That genre does not appeal to me in any way and I have absolutely zero interests on reading anything that has to do with the genre. But, I will probably read it in the future just not the near future as I do not see myself reading anything from that genre any time soon.

What is a popular or beloved character that you do not like?

Image result for six of crows

Ah. This is where this provision is going to get remarkably controversial.

For this question, I am going to go with the answer of Kaz Brekker from the Six Of Crows duology. Ouch, I can hear people wishing to bash the crap out of me for stating that. Well, I know most of you adore Kaz Brekker from the inception like he had stolen your essence or something but I do not like him. I know he is an anti-hero and everything but he just does not intrigue me like the rest of the personas in this novel do.

Why does he not appeal to me like the others do? Well, number one being he is too manipulative and number two, his character arc only hastened up somewhither about the end of the novel and it sort of pestered me because he is supposed to be the main character of this novel. Thus, concludes my dislikes for this character.

I will have a review for this novel up on my blog soon which I will discuss everything in detail but as for forthwith, this will be my limited source of spitefulness.

Who is a popular author that you can’t seem to get into?

Image result for game of thrones book

George R.R Martin should be the appropriate option for this inquisition. It’s growing sultry in here with hostile grimaces glancing at me.
This author is just not for me. The novels that he has written are in the genre of Fantasy which I cherish but the books are just too compact and it might take me millennial years to conclude them. In addition, the papers used are slim, delicate papers. Furthermore, the font is so freaking tiny. Thus, I will not be reading his novels anytime soon.

What is a popular book trope that you are tired of seeing?

Genuinely, I do not have an answer for this question but if this catechism is obliged to be acknowledged to actuate to the next, I will persist with the ‘I am special’ trope.

What is a popular book or series that you have no interest in reading?

Image result for fifty shades of grey books

For this question, the answer will definitely go to the Fifty Shades trilogy. I have unquestionably zero enthusiasm on reading these books and after every single detailed analysis that I had read to perceive what transpires in this story, I have no intention on registering it and that is all I am going to elucidate on for this trilogy.

What is a movie or TV show adaption of a book or series that you like more than the book/s?

Image result for the monsters call

The reason why I picked A Monster Calls for this question is that of the love I have for the movie. Of course, I love the book as well- I even cried reading this novel but the movie, in my personal opinion, is even better than the book because it has extra elements in it that would make you feel for the characters and their struggles. Furthermore, there are more scenes in the movie that are not exploited in the book. Therefore, I enjoyed the movie more than the novel (even though the novel is still one of my favourites of all time).

This is the end of the ‘Unpopular Opinion Book Tag’! I hope you all enjoyed it and follow me with your email/Wordpress account to get notifications when I post a new article! Bye!

  1. This was an interesting post to read and a cool idea for a tag! I haven’t read a lot of the books you mention, but I kind of agree about Kaz. I didn’t necessarily hate him, but I found pretty much all the other characters in the duology more interesting and compelling than he was.
