Hey Guys! It is Max here and I will be doing a fun article on the ‘Top 8 Book Series That I Haven’t Read Yet’ today. Most of these book series on this list are series that I am ashamed that I have not read yet while others before me had already completed years and years ago. Thus, this article is to motivate me and you to pick those books up to read before the book-wagons move on to another bigger wagon.
So, without further ado, let us get into my unbelievable ‘Top 8 Book Series That I Have Yet To Read’ list!
1. Throne Of Glass By Sarah J Maas
Synopsis:
After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.
Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for four years and then be granted her freedom. Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilarating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her … but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.
Then one of the other contestants turns up dead … quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.
Me:
Surprise, surprise! I have not read the most hyped up book series on both the book blog and booktube-sphere yet! I do not even own the books.. I am such a failure, am I right? But I do hope that somewhere in the future, I will go to one of the bookstores and get my hands on this series because I have heard nothing but great things about it. Thus, it is a must for me to read this series that everyone has been raving about since 2012.
2. Cinder by Marissa Meyer
Synopsis:
Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl.
Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.
Me:
Another popular series that I am ashamed that I have yet to read. After I reading and reviewing Heartless, also by Marissa Meyer, I have had the urged to read this series but I do not know what happen to the urge. Maybe it just sink into the ground? But, that does not excuse the shame.
I will probably own these books soon because I am thinking of going to the bookstore to buy ‘Some’ books for my belated birthday book haul. Thus, a soon-to-be-read series!
3. The Selection by Kiera Cass
Synopsis:
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
Me:
I have been meaning to pick up this book series for a very, very long time until now that I finally have the motivation to pick it up. The concepts of these books in ‘The Selection’ book series intrigued me because I have never heard of such unique idea. Therefore, this book series is up high in my to-buy list!
4. Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Synopsis:
Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker has been offered wealth beyond his wildest dreams. But to claim it, he’ll have to pull off a seemingly impossible heist:
Break into the notorious Ice Court
(a military stronghold that has never been breached)
Retrieve a hostage
(who could unleash magical havoc on the world)
Survive long enough to collect his reward
(and spend it)
Kaz needs a crew desperate enough to take on this suicide mission and dangerous enough to get the job done – and he knows exactly who: six of the deadliest outcasts the city has to offer. Together, they just might be unstoppable – if they don’t kill each other first.
Me:
Yeah, need I say more? Well, the thing is that I actually owned this duology but I have yet to read it. I have no idea why.. Even though it is so hyped up by everyone. Maybe I am just underwhelmed by the hype? Unfortunately, that does not excuse the shame and since that I have the duology with me- right here, right now, I will read it as soon as possible.
5. White Cat by Holly Black
Synopsis:
Cassel comes from a family of curse workers: people who have the power to change your emotions, your memories, your luck, by the slightest touch of their hands. And since curse work is illegal, they’re all criminals. Many become mobsters and con artists. But not Cassel. He hasn’t got magic, so he’s an outsider; the straight kid in a crooked family. You just have to ignore one small detail – he killed his best friend, Lila, three years ago.
Cassel has carefully built up a facade of normalcy, blending into the crowd. But his facade starts to crumble when he finds himself sleepwalking, propelled into the night by terrifying dreams about a white cat that wants to tell him something. He’s noticing other disturbing things, too, including the strange behavior of his two brothers. They are keeping secrets from him. As Cassel begins to suspect he’s part of a huge con game, he must unravel his past and his memories. To find out the truth, Cassel will have to outcon the conmen.
Me:
Oh my goodness! I cannot believe I have not read this book trilogy yet! It sounds so unique and it has the word on the cover: CAT. I love every type of cat: Grey cat, White cat, Black cat, Golden cat, etc. Thus, this trilogy is one of the series that I want to buy soon!
6. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
Synopsis:
After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.
Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother-or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.
Me:
I need this book trilogy! I do not even know why I have not pick this trilogy up yet! *Angry-scream at myself*
7. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Synopsis:
I have a curse
I have a gift
I am a monster
I’m more than human
My touch is lethal
My touch is power
I am their weapon
I will fight back
Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.
Me:
I heard that this book series was picked up by Mike Le and I also heard that it will soon be turned into a TV series. Hence, how can I not read it before the TV series appear on the screens?
8. Snow like Ashes by Sara Raasch
Synopsis:
A heartbroken girl. A fierce warrior. A hero in the making.
Sixteen years ago the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now, the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter’s magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.
Orphaned as an infant during Winter’s defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians’ general, Sir. Training to be a warrior—and desperately in love with her best friend, and future king, Mather — she would do anything to help her kingdom rise to power again.
So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she’s scaling towers, fighting enemy soldiers, just as she’s always dreamed she would. But the mission doesn’t go as planned, and Meira soon finds herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics – and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.
Me:
I wanted to pick up this book trilogy a year ago, but did not manage to pick it up because of how expensive it is but since I have not bought any books for my birthday, I would like to add this onto my ‘belated birthday not yet hauled’ list!

Don’t force yourself to read anything though, because if you’re not in the mood for reading it yet, you might not enjoy it. That said, Six of Crows is amazing and I hope you like it because it’s my favorite series!

I have not read any of those either! I did recently pick up the first Throne of Glass book though, so I will give that one a go at some point soon… The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater is another one I need to read!

Oh. Why didn’t I add the Raven Cycle onto this list? Yes, Oh gosh. I feel so guilty 😣😣😣

Just reading this list made me feel guilty, I have only read the throne of glass series and I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough! I have the 5th wave and cinder sitting on my shelf just waiting to be read !

After having read S.J.Maas series, and although I loved the first 3, I will say, don’t bother to read, if you are going for all of the books in the series. It’s easier to love first three books rather than having the feeling the series are ruined.
Hmmm…I tried “Snow like ashes” series and a dissatisfied…(The covers is gorgeous.) I haven’t read the rest of the series from your list. I would like to know if any if those – all the books are great, then I would invest my time…otherwise I am playing safe. 🙂

I haven’t read many of these books either (excepting The Lunar Chronicles, they are some of my all time favourites) – from some of the descriptions, though, it sounds like I’ll have to add some books to my already ridiculously long TBR list. 🙂

I think Throne of Glass and Shatter Me are both series that people have polar opinions, and it just doesn’t fall in the middle. I loved both, but many people hated them, and people have such strong opinions about it! I personally didn’t like The Selection series, and I didn’t read the last books. I loved Six of Crows, and I also need to read Cinder! Amazing post 🙂

Yeah, I haven’t read any of those except Throne of Glass. I’ve tried to get through the second Throne of Glass book with no avail. There’s just something I don’t like about it. I might be too old for them. I think A Court of Thorns and Roses is a better series and I have read through those up to Court of Wings and Ruin.

I read the throne of glass series, and honestly, it’s amazing. There are almost no plot holes, twists, turns, the love story doesn’t over shadow the quest and the strong female lead is not obnocious, she is powerful. I’m going to be sad when the final installment is over. You should read it! I have 6 of crows but I have a hard time getting into it

I finished the selection as soon as it was released each year until the last one back in 2016. And, I just finished reading Six of Crows duology recently as I was afraid it might not live up to the hype because Shadows and Bones was just so good! BUT OMG definitely check out SOC and its squad out! I’m planning to read the Throne of Glass sometimes soon.

Throne of Glass, Lunar Chonicles and The Selection are all so good! 5th Wave was alright, but the last book was really disappointing to me. It didn’t answer any of the questions I had. I’ve also been meaning to read Six of Crows for quite a while, but the rest of these weren’t even on my TBR (thank you 😂). Good luck getting to them all!
