Hey Guys! It is Max here and today, I will be doing my favourite month of the year’s TBR! The reason why I said this month is my favourite month is because this month is my birthday month! Yay!
But, nevertheless, the TBR goal is needed to be accomplished for once! Have any of you noticed that I have yet to accomplished any TBR pile? So, everyone, you may see an over-ambitious TBR pile for this month!
By the way, I have only completed two books last month and those two books were Night Film by Marisha Pessl and The Battle For Oz by Jeyna Grace. I will be linking both of the books I have reviewed down below:
Now, this TBR is going to be long so I am going to keep this introduction short and without further ado, let us get into the To Be Read pile for the month of August.
1. Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
Synopsis:
In a continent on the edge of war, two witches hold its fate in their hands.
Young witches Safiya and Iseult have a habit of finding trouble. After clashing with a powerful Guildmaster and his ruthless Bloodwitch bodyguard, the friends are forced to flee their home.
Safi must avoid capture at all costs as she’s a rare Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lies. Many would kill for her magic, so Safi must keep it hidden – lest she be used in the struggle between empires. And Iseult’s true powers are hidden even from herself.
In a chance encounter at Court, Safi meets Prince Merik and makes him a reluctant ally. However, his help may not slow down the Bloodwitch now hot on the girls’ heels. All Safi and Iseult want is their freedom, but danger lies ahead. With war coming, treaties breaking and a magical contagion sweeping the land, the friends will have to fight emperors and mercenaries alike. For some will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.
Like I have said in my previous TBR- The booktubeathon TBR, I cannot wait to read this book. It sounds like something I have been wanting to read for ages but never had a chance to read it. So, I am definitely going to read this book first.
2. The Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness
Synopsis for The Knife of Never Letting Go:
Prentisstown isn’t like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else’s thoughts in an overwhelming, never-ending stream of Noise. Just a month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd and his dog, Manchee — whose thoughts Todd can hear too, whether he wants to or not — stumble upon an area of complete silence. They find that in a town where privacy is impossible, something terrible has been hidden — a secret so awful that Todd and Manchee must run for their lives.
But how do you escape when your pursuers can hear your every thought?
I am only giving The Knife of Never Letting Go’s synopsis because: Number one, I do not want to spoil you by accident and number two, I do not want to spoil myself. You may be asking, “Max, I thought you disliked this book?” Well, this is the answer to that question: “I want to give this book a second chance and I do not wish the experience will be the same as the first.” So..Yes.
3. Midwinterblood by Marcus Sedgwick
Synopsis:
Have you ever had the feeling that you’ve lived another life? Been somewhere that has felt totally familiar, even though you’ve never been there before, or felt that you know someone well, even though you are meeting them for the first time? It happens.
In a novel comprising seven parts, each influenced by a moon – the flower moon, the harvest moon, the hunter’s moon, the blood moon – this is the story of Eric and Merle whose souls have been searching for each other since their untimely parting.
Marcus Sedgwick is my favourite author. So, of course I am going to give this book a go and I bet I will love this book!
4. The Sword To Unite by Peter Hopkins
Synopsis:
It is an age of rebirth in the kingdoms of the north. Cedric, lord of Orford, a man plagued by dark dreams of omens, and the true heir of the long lost hero Adalgott, is thrown from his peaceful life and swept into a world of chaos. When a mysterious tome is stolen, Cedric sets out to avenge a fallen friend, and uncover the truth behind his visions. In the Kingdom of Lorine, Cedric learns of an ancient prophecy, and the return of Azrael, a wraith of corruption and decay.
Cedric must find the blade, Geanlaecan, for only in its burning power can the dark tide of Azrael, the ancient enemy of man, be turned back. Cedric does not journey alone, lords, mercenaries, magi, and beasts of forests flock to the banner of the true king. In Midland, a kingdom to the north, Cedric meets with politicking lords, and the grizzled Vine King, ruler of Prav and master of Midland. Cedric must unite the squabbling lords of the north if there is to be any chance of survival.
I will be reading this book on my E-Reader and while I am reading it, I will pick up a physical copy of a book to read. Anyways, I cannot wait to read this book!
5. Chasing Butterflies by Rod Martinez
Synopsis:
Devastation is coming, not just for Palm Creek, Florida – a small town just a few miles from Cape Kennedy and N.A.S.A. – but eventually – it could destroy the entire eastern Florida coast if it isn’t stopped. A predator with mysterious origins and no understanding of its inherent danger is on the prowl with seemingly nothing that can stop it. It hosts a cancer of epic proportions, not only the kind that eats away at your body – it’s also the kind that transforms your soul.
Four total strangers from different walks of life will be on a mission, they just don’t know it yet. And the decisions and outcomes of these four unlikely friends will either save or destroy the populace.
This book is pretty short. It is about 160 pages and I can probably finish this book in a sitting or two. So, I am anticipating to read this book soon!
This is the end of my August TBR list (Wish me luck, everyone!)! I hope you all enjoyed it and let me know your August TBR down in the comment box below! Follow me with your email/wordpress account to get notifications when I post a new article! Bye!
